- 1 piece of fresh turmeric as long and thick as your little finger, Notes 1, 2
- 1 piece fresh ginger about as large as half of your thumb
- 1 pinch cinnamon
- a few grindings of black pepper
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice to taste, Note 3

Boil water: Measure the water in a large mug, pour it into a small pan, and bring it to a boil.1 cup water/ 250 ml Slice: In the meantime, slice the turmeric and the ginger into thin slices.1 piece of fresh turmeric + 1 piece fresh ginger Simmer: Turn the heat down and add the turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, and pepper to the pot. Simmer gently for 4-5 minutes.1 pinch cinnamon + a few grindings of black pepper Sieve the tea through a fine-mesh sieve back into the mug, and add honey and fresh lemon juice to taste. Stir well and enjoy it.1 teaspoon honey + 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- The recipe makes 1 large mug of tea, but feel free to make as much as you want. I usually make about 3-4 cups and keep the tea in the Thermos bottle.
- Substitute fresh turmeric with ¾ teaspoon ground turmeric
- Color: The tea will be very dark orange at first, but once you add just a little lemon juice, the tea will brighten up and look like liquid gold!
