If the person you give it to is a chocolate lover, you cannot go wrong; these bars are beyond good. They are heavenly! Unbelievable! And you don't even have to be a great chocolate lover to love this. I am not a chocolate person, but I loved every crumble of the chocolate caramel crunch.

Tips
- I used my Thermomix to make the bars, but you can do everything by hand; it is really not difficult at all. A good food processor just makes everything quicker. The recipe is also adapted from a Thermomix recipe found in their magazine.
- Like always, when working with chocolate, please use the best sort you can get, your favorite kind.
- I used a mixture of milk chocolate from Milka and dark chocolate from Lindt, our favorite kinds. (Amazon affiliate links)
- I also used hard caramel bonbons from Werther's Original hard candy, I don't know if these bonbons are available in your area, if not, use any other brand of very hard caramel bonbons. (Amazon affiliate links)
- This is not a paid post or anything, I am mentioning those product names for a better understanding, to help you choose the appropriate ingredients for making these bars.
- The European products are not a must either; use good quality similar products available in your area.
Thermomix instructions
- Chop the roasted hazelnuts for 6 seconds on level 6. Transfer to a bowl.
- Roughly crush the cornflakes for 3 seconds on level 5. Add to the bowl with the hazelnuts.
- Crush the hard candy for 3 seconds on level 5. Transfer to a separate bowl.
- Chop the chocolate pieces for 6 seconds on level 5. Add the salt and the oil and melt for 5 minutes/50 degrees Celsius/ level 2. Add to the bowl with the hazelnuts and cornflakes and mix well.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and sprinkle evenly with the crushed caramel candy.
How to make without a food processor
- Chop the roasted hazelnuts roughly using a chef's knife. Place in a bowl.
- Crush the cornflakes roughly with your hands. Add to the hazelnuts.
- Crush the hard candy using a meat mallet or a heavy sturdy pan. Set aside separately from the rest.
- Melt the chocolate au bain-marie. Once it is fully melted add the salt and the oil. Pour over the hazelnuts and the cornflakes. Mix very well.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and sprinkle with the crushed candy.

Servings: 20 squares
Calories: 92kcal
Ingredients
- 40 g whole hazelnuts 1.4 oz/ ¼ cups
- 50 g unsweetened cornflakes 1.8 oz/ 2 cups
- 60 g hard caramel candy 2.1 oz, Note 2
- 100 g g/ 3.5 oz milk chocolate 3.5 oz, Note 3
- 100 g dark chocolate about 70% cocoa 3.5 oz, Note 4
- pinch of fine sea salt
- 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- Line a casserole dish of about 20x20 cm/ 8x8 inch with plastic foil.
- Roast the hazelnuts in a pan without any fat, for a few minutes or until fragrant. Stand by and shake the pan very often to avoid them burning. Immediately remove the nuts from the pan and let cool.
- Rub the nuts between your palms to remove some of their brown skin. You don't have to get it all away, just as much as you manage.
Without a food processor:
- Chop the roasted hazelnuts roughly using a chef's knife. Place in a bowl.
- Crush the cornflakes roughly with your hands. Add to the hazelnuts.
- Crush the hard candy using a meat mallet or a heavy, sturdy pan. Set aside separately from the rest.
- Melt the chocolate au bain-marie. Once it is fully melted, add the salt and the oil. Pour over the hazelnuts and the cornflakes. Mix very well.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared pan, sprinkle with the crushed candy.
Thermomix or another good food processor that can manage crushing the hard candy:
- Chop the roasted hazelnuts for 6 seconds on level 6. Transfer to a bowl. Roughly crush the cornflakes for 3 seconds on level 5.
Finish:
- Let set: Place the dish in the fridge for a couple of hours until the chocolate is set again. Chop into smallish squares. I prefer to eat it cold, straight from the refrigerator. It keeps well in the fridge.
Notes
- Use a digital kitchen scale to measure the ingredients when baking; it guarantees for best results.
- For instance Werther's Original.
- For instance Milka.
- For instance Lindt. Or any other similar products available in your area.

I can see why these were gobbled up - they sound amazing! We've depleted our stock of cookies and treats, so I may need to make a batch to get us back in the sugar 😉 Love all the flavors in here and that bit of crispiness - delicious! Pinned! Happy holidays to you!
