A healthy peach blueberry smoothie with oats is one of my favorite breakfast drinks. You can make it with fresh or frozen fruit.
Sweet yet healthy, filling yet light – this peach blueberry smoothie is just what I need for breakfast these days.
I love peaches, and I try to make the most of the season. Not only to eat them as they are but to use them for smoothies, peach compote, or peach sour cream cake. I can them; I make jams and even use them to make grilled peach chicken salad or other savory dishes.
And then there are the blueberries, my favorite berries. They are not as seasonal as peaches, but I pick a lot every summer and freeze them, so I am sure to have some at any time.

Recipe ingredients
Peaches: I always use fresh peaches, but frozen ones are ok, too. Nectarines can be used instead.
Blueberries: Fresh or frozen.
Oatmeal: It's necessary to make this peach blueberry smoothie filling; otherwise, if you drink it for breakfast, you might get hungry again before lunchtime. It makes the drink thick and comforting. Oats are very nutritious; they lower blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of heart disease.
Milk: Either cow milk or nut milk. I usually use almond or coconut milk (from a box, not a can), but soy, oat, and rice milk are also fine.
Sweetener: The healthiest way to sweeten this drink is to add a very ripe banana (or two) to the mixture. In this case, increase the milk amount to make it pourable again. Otherwise, honey (not vegan), maple syrup, a little stevia, or xylitol are all OK. Use according to taste.
Check out the Apple Orange Smoothie, too.
What could you add?
- Greek yogurt, but then the smoothie would not be vegan anymore. It tastes delicious, though! In this case, use less milk, enough to make the smoothie drinkable.
- Chia seeds or flax seeds instead of oats, about 1 tablespoon per serving.
- Vanilla extract
- Ice cubes
How to make peach blueberry smoothie?
- Step #1: Place the chopped peaches and all the other ingredients in the blender.
- Step #2: Blend until smooth.
- Step #3: Check if it's sweet enough. If not, add more sweetener to taste.
Storage
The peach and blueberry smoothie is best served immediately. However, it will stay good for several hours (so you can take it to work) or until the evening.
Keep it refrigerated in an airtight container.
